Colorado State Patrol Releases 2nd Victim Name in Fatal Highway 85 Crash

Colorado-State-Patrol-Releases-2nd-Victim-Name-in-Fatal-Highway-85-CrashEL PASO COUNTY (December 10, 2018)– On Monday, Colorado State Patrol investigators released the second name belonging to a victim in a fatal December 9th crash that left 3 dead and 1 seriously injured. The tragic event occurred in El Paso County on Highway 85.

21-year-old Daniel Huffman of Fountain died from his injuries at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs. Driver Amanda Sandoval, of Fountain, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident took place around 1:20 pm near mile marker 134.5 on Highway 85. Sandoval was traveling southbound when she lost control after attempting to pass another vehicle. She veered into the opposite lanes before colliding with the front-left side of a vehicle driven by Kayla Meadows of Indiana. Meadows was traveling northbound when the collision occurred. The passenger in Meadow’s car was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash is still under investigation, with speeding and alcohol consumption listed as possible factors.
