The crash happened on Las Animas County Road 30.1, about 10 miles north of Segundo and left one dead and three injured.

At approximately 3:20 pm, a FedEx Van was traveling westbound on the County Road when the driver approached a curve. He began to break to for the curve but then skidded into the eastbound lanes. His van collided, head-on, with a Chevy K1500 Pickup traveling eastbound on the County Road.

The pickup driver sustained only minor injuries, but his wife and passenger 74-year-old Lupe Aragon from Weston died at the scene. The driver of the FedEx truck, Robert Lenk from Pueblo and his passenger, Jason Gran from Pueblo West were both taken to Mt. San Rafael Hospital in Trinidad. All four people involved were wearing seatbelts. State troopers are investigating to find out if excessive speed played a role in the crash.
