Littleton (February 12, 2019) – Douglas County Police identified the 20-year old woman responsible for a double fatal crash early Wednesday morning. They arrested her following the crash and she was later identified as Deanna May Bixby. The crash happened on Santa Fe Dr. and Mineral Ave., near the Aspen Grove shopping center.
Bixby led deputies on a chase, then crashed into another car, killing two innocent people. The Arapahoe County Coroner identified the two victims as Jayne Frances Davicsin, 25 and Ryan Scott Carter, 27. Both died from injuries they sustained in the crash.
Early Wednesday morning, a sheriff deputy noted Bixby’s vehicle driving erratically and began pursuit. The deputy was following about 100 yards behind and had not caught up to the vehicle when it crashed. The innocent victim’s car was t-boned as they were crossing Santa Fe on Mineral. A video released at a Thursday afternoon news conference shows Bixby’s Mitsubishi traveling in the wrong lanes on Santa Fe at speeds of 100 mph or more.
Bixby is now in police custody on several active warrants. She was driving a car stolen from an Adams County location two days before. Officers also found a gun in the vehicle. Sheriff Spurlock commented on the problem of criminals traveling to Douglas County to steal from its residents and then putting people’s lives in danger by recklessly speeding away.
